OmniView Gantry
  • The new OmniView Gantry system sets a new standard in high energy transmission imaging. The system offers 400mm steel penetration as well as superior quality images.
  • The optional Z Backscatter module creates images from three sides of the cargo and offers photo-like images to help speed image analysis and facilitate manifest verification
  • OmniView Gantry features the largest tunnel size in the industry. It can accommodate vehicles up to 5 m high allowing for the inspection of a wide variety of vehicle sizes

The OmniView Gantry is a high performance, high energy cargo inspection system offering best-in-class X-ray imaging in a sleek, efficient design. The 6 MeV transmission imaging offers penetration of 400mm steel to inspect even the densest cargo containers. The unique design of the OmniView Gantry system minimizes X-ray scatter in order to create a high quality, detailed X-ray image.

OmniView Gantry features the largest tunnel size in the industry and can accommodate vehicles up to 5m high allowing for the inspection of a wide variety of vehicle sizes. The system operates on rails scanning over stationary trucks and cargo. The system is bi-directional scanning in either the forward or reverse direction allowing for a throughput of approximately 28 trucks per hour. Scan length is variable and can be customized for any location. Standard length is 60m (180ft) to scan two trucks at a time but can be adjusted for longer or shorter scan lengths.

The OmniView Gantry system is the only gantry system available that offers optional multi-view Z Backscatter imaging for left, right, and top-side imaging of cargo. The three Z Backscatter images highlight organic materials for improved detection of explosives, drugs and other contraband. The photo-like images help speed image analysis and facilitate manifest verification.

The combination of transmission and Z Backscatter imaging offers the most information about the contents of the cargo and delivers the most reliable means of detecting contraband and threatening materials such as weapons, drugs and explosives hidden in cargo containers, tankers, and large vehicles.

TECHNOLOGY

OmniView Gantry’s high-energy transmission imaging has a penetration performance of 400mm steel using 6.0 MeV transmission X-ray source. The efficient design of the transmission gantry minimizes X-ray scatter to create a superior, high quality image. State of the art detector design helps to create detailed images with unsurpassed image quality. The system can image a wide variety of targets including extremely dense cargo with excellent detection performance.

Z Backscatter technology provides up to three views of objects for easy-to-interpret, clear, photo-like images of the cargo under inspection. Z Backscatter highlights organic materials including explosives and drugs that are often missed by transmission X-rays alone. In addition to highlighting organic material, Z Backscatter imaging extends the systems field of view imaging the entire vehicle from the ground up. This allows for the inspection of areas such as tires and gas tanks that are typically cut-off in transmission images. The combined power of AS&E’s high-energy transmission and Z Backscatter multi-view imaging detects threats and contraband that other systems miss.
